Group Visits

YVC camp - cannon demonstration Whatever the age level or interest of your groups, the combination of gallery exhibits and living history at Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown is ideal. The museums are wonderfully suited for group visits, choose from a variety of guided tours and programs. Select from an array of fun and engaging tours and programs customized for a variety of ages, curriculum standards and special interests.

Your groups will see hundreds of unique artifacts in the museum’s exhibition galleries. Costumed historical interpreters in the outdoor living-history areas are on hand to answer questions and involve visitors in everyday activities of the 17th and 18th centuries.

Be sure to allow a minimum of two hours at each museum and additional time to view a film and for meals, travel-related necessities and the gift shops, which feature an excellent selection of reproductions, publications, educational toys and games, and souvenirs. Visitors can dine in or pre-order meals for pickup at Jamestown Settlement Café or the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown Café.

 

Experience the beginning and the end of Colonial America in just one day.

Enjoy a 2.5 hour guided tour in the morning at Jamestown Settlement, have lunch in Jamestown Settlement Cafe (reserve a private room for up to 50), be sure to save  time for shopping in the museum stores then travel the Colonial Parkway to the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown for your 2 hour guided tour. Military Reunions, Family Reunions, Church Groups  – Adult and Mixed Groups

Choose from any of our tour options or for those who are looking for a more in depth experience to share with their fellow travelers can arrange for a classroom program and a guided or self guided tour.  Your group can use the classroom as a gathering place for up to three hours.  Customize your program to include a voucher for lunch at the Jamestown Settlement Café or box lunches to go. Visit in the morning stay for lunch.  Visit in the afternoon try the Cafe Buffet for dinner.

Can’t visit as an organized group?

Purchase no date/no time tickets in advance from our Sales Manager, order 25 or more to receive a reduced rate. The tickets can be used an individual basis at a time that is most convenient your guests. PLAN YOUR GROUP VISIT

Reservations:

Call (757) 253-4939 or (888) 868-7593 Monday – Friday between 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Reservations for guided tours and programs are required at least three business days in advance and are requested for self-guided groups. We recommend making reservations at least two months in advance for fall and winter trips, and up to four months in advance for trips in the spring.

Chaperones/Complimentary Policy:

Chaperones are required to stay with their group at all times and maintain appropriate student behavior. Student groups are eligible for one complimentary chaperone admission with every 10 paid students. Bus drivers receive complimentary admission.

Schedule Planning:

Allow extra time for the museum film, museum stores, meals and travel-related necessities.

Day of Arrival:

Please bring your confirmation letter. Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled visit time to register and use the facilities. Designate one person responsible for payment procedure – one payment is required for the entire group. Proceed to the museum lobby/group check-in to register and pay for the visit. If your group is scheduled for a guided tour or program, your guide will meet you at the bus drop-off area.
