Little Powhatans

What would Powhatan Indian children be responsible for during the day?

Students compare their lives to those of Powhatan Indian children 400 years ago. Practice hunting skills, gather walnuts, work in the garden and explore the re-created Powhatan Indian Village for clues about shelter, clothing, and cooking. Take a trip through the gallery to find Chief Powhatan and Pocahontas. For kindergarten and 1st grade.

Program complies with VA Social Studies Standards of Learning.

“Wonderful, relevant, and easy to understand language for their age.  The hands-on experiences were very worthwhile. Worked very well with K review (past and present) and needs and wants.  Thank you!” – Kindergarten teacher, Williamsburg-James City County Public School.
