Dig Deeper: Jamestown Crime "Seen"

At the recreated James Fort, students work in teams to examine primary source documents, artifacts and other evidence to solve a 400-year-old mystery:  Was the gunpowder injury that sent John Smith back to England in 1609 an accident, a crime, or an attempt to sabotage the colony?  Students analyze the evidence, see a re-creation of the “accident”, apply logic, and draw conclusions.  They present and defend their theories to their classmates. Will they solve the mystery?

Program complies with VA Social Studies Standards of Learning.
