Colonial Days

Apprentice with the Physician

Colonial Medicine Chest, Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation

Is your school hosting a special Colonial Days program?

Contact outreach education at 757-253-4437 for information on Colonial Days: Apprentice With the Physician, a program designed to support your special day of learning.

Students will explore the history and science of medicine in the 18th-century by “apprenticing” themselves to a colonial physician.  After learning about period medical tools, treatments, and medicines, students will make a take-home herbal medicine sack.

Program schedule can be customized to meet your needs and is available on a limited basis.
