Learning about the history of Jamestown, colonial America and the American Revolution is an adventure!

Explore our country’s beginnings at Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. Discover tools for enriching your Jamestown and Yorktown visit with hands-on educational programs and teacher learning materials available at our museums or in your classroom. Learning about history is always fun at Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. Explore the new American Revolution Museum at Yorktown where exciting new indoor galleries feature period artifacts, immersive environments, interactive exhibits and films, including “The Siege of Yorktown,” with a 180-degree surround screen and dramatic special effects. In the outdoor living-history areas, witness artillery demonstrations, drill with wooden muskets at a re-created Continental Army encampment and explore a Revolution-era farm based on a real-life 18th-century family. Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown are open year-round 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily (9 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 15-July 24) except Christmas and New Year’s days.

Group Tours and Programs
Select from an array of fun and engaging tours and programs customized for a variety of ages, curriculum standards and special interests. These tours and programs are for groups of 15 or more. Student tours and programs are correlated to Virginia Standards of Learning, National Standards for History, National Curriculum Standards for Social Studies and Common Core. STEM objectives are incorporated into a number of programs. See detailed program descriptions for more information.
Classroom Outreach
Bring the museum into your classroom with a hands-on history lesson correlated with your curriculum. During our inquiry-based program, students examine reproduction artifacts and primary sources and engage in historical analysis to learn standards-based historical concepts. Let us expand the lesson well beyond the textbook!
Youth and Family Programs
History is fun for families! Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown offer exciting and fun history-based summer programs for children ages 4 and up. Scout programs involve youth in active learning as they tour the galleries and living-history sites to earn badges. And Home School families will find a year-round daily admission rate, plus an annual two-week Home School Days event offering special themed tours for children of all ages. Immersive Learning Experience in your Classroom. No matter how far your classroom is from our museums, you can still participate in immersive learning adventures through our new Interactive Video Conferencing program.
