In conjunction with the “TENACITY: Women in Jamestown and Early Virginia” special exhibition, Misha Ewen, a Hallsworth Research Fellow in Political Economy at the University of Manchester explores the reasons behind the Virginia Company of London’s effort in 1619 to recruit English women to the Jamestown colony and its impact on the development of Virginia.
