Yorktown Victory Center - Students

YV_Students.jpgGuided Tours
A two-and-a-half-hour tour at Jamestown Settlement or a two-hour tour at the Yorktown Victory Center led by trained guides highlights each museum's exhibition gallery and outdoor living-history area. This hands-on, inquiry-oriented tour encourages participants to handle reproduction objects, interact with costumed interpreters, and explore museum galleries and re-created outdoor settings. Programs are designed to meet Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) objectives. A one-hour tour is available for groups with time constraints.

Hands-On History Educational Programs
These two-and-a-half-hour programs at Jamestown Settlement or the Yorktown Victory Center offer a structured tour and hands-on activities that allow participants a deeper
understanding and appreciation of life in the 17th and 18th centuries. Led by trained educators, these programs explore historical topics through role-playing and the examination of illustrations and reproduction artifacts. Choose from programs customized for a variety of ages at Jamestown Settlement or the Yorktown Victory Center.

Self-Guided Visit
Groups that wish to visit the museums on their own are welcome to do so and are encouraged to explore each museum's exhibition galleries, film and outdoor living-history areas. Advance registration is highly recommended. Allow at least two hours to visit each museum. More Information on Self-Guided Visits to Yorktown Victory Center.

Home educators will want to take advantage of special programs during our Homeschool Program at Jamestown Settlement and the Yorktown Victory Center September 8-19, 2008.

Guided tours and hands-on programs offer opportunities for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts at various levels to have fun and learn while meeting requirements for badges and awards.
